Vueling Cabin Luggage - 2025 Latest Update Policy and Tips
Vueling Airlines is a popular Spanish airline that offers affordable flights to Europe and many other destinations. The airline enforces strict hand luggage limits to maintain their budget-friendly prices, with additional charges applied if you need to bring more.
So what are policies related to Vueling cabin luggage and how can you save your time and effort getting on the plane from this airline? Let’s learn about their latest policy update for 2025 to prepare for your flight!
Is Vueling Very Strict With Hand Luggage?
The answer isn’t entirely straightforward—it can vary depending on the specific flight and the staff on duty. However, according to the customers' reviews, Vueling can sometimes be strict with luggage overall.
However, they will probably let it slide if your carry-on is 1 inch too big. For the free underseat bag, a slightly bigger, soft-sided backpack that can easily squashed is still acceptable, but don’t overdo it with a hiking backpack or a suitcase.

Vueling is known as a low-cost airline. Therefore, you should understand that they will charge more for almost everything besides the ticket. The same goes for your baggage.
For the cabin baggage, you will only have a personal bag for free, given that it fits under the seat in front of you. Other hand luggage will be charged from €10 to €80 and will be placed in the overhead locker.
Your checked luggage will be charged from €10 per luggage, depending on the weight and where you bought it. You can choose to buy a bundle to enjoy more priorities and luggage included. However, it will surely cost more than the usual selection.
What Size Is Cabin Luggage On Vueling?
According to the Vueling requirement for carry-on, all passengers are allowed to bring a free bag that will fit under the seat in front of them.
Vueling Underseat Bag
Vueling under-seat bag will not exceed the dimensions of 40x30x20 cm (15.7x11.8x7.8 in). Things purchased at the airport will also have to be placed under the seat but will not be counted toward this limitation.
Therefore, the bag you choose is important in determining whether you can bring a lot of luggage or not. Choose one made of flexible material that can be squeezed and stuffed like a CabinZero Underseat Bag.
Made of polyester fabric with abrasion-resistant and water-resistant features, our 28L option fits perfectly in Vueling required dimensions and offers spacious space for packing. Each bag has compression straps, various handles, and a clamshell opening, along with zip pockets and a tracking tag. You can organise your belongings into different compartments easily to travel lightly and conveniently.
Vueling Carry On
If you want to bring Vueling carry-on luggage, the maximum weight allowed is 10kg (22 lb). Is there a size limit for cabin baggage? Yes. The allowed dimensions are 55x40x20cm (21.7 x 15.7 x 7.8 in).
This carry-on luggage will be placed in the overhead locker. And of course, you will have to pay extra. There are 02 ways you can arrange for this: buying online or offline at the airport. However, you can enjoy this baggage allowance for free if you meet certain conditions, such as:
- Opt for Fly or Fly Grande bundles
- Upgrade to Space Plus and Space One seats
- Are a Premium customer
- Need special assistance at the airport or have booked for this service
- Travel with an infant (under 2 years of age).
Vueling Cabin Baggage Price
If you buy your luggage on the website or the Vueling app, it will be cheaper, at around €10 to €59. You can purchase it along with the ticket or add it later. The only inconvenience of this way is that this option applies to all passengers on the same booking.
If you wait to buy cabin luggage at the airport, be prepared to pay significantly more, with prices ranging from €45 to €75.
The fee varies for different flights and destinations. You’ll see the final price when you book your flight or enter your purchase details to add luggage on their website.
You can avoid this fee if you choose a premium bundle or pay to select Space Plus and Space One seats. Another exception is if you travel with less than 2 year-old-infant.
Travel hassle-free with the right Vueling cabin luggage.
Vueling Checked Baggage Allowance & Fees
Unlike cabin luggage, Vueling checked baggage has more detailed prices and policies for each weight class.
What Is A Hold Bag In Vueling?
Hold bag is another term for checked luggage. It means the luggage you sent to the check-in desk for it to travel in the hold instead of being brought along to the cabin.
Vueling Checked Baggage Allowance
Only those who choose the Fly bundle (checked luggage option) or the Fly Grande bundle are allowed one free 25kg hold bag. Passengers of other fare classes must pay if they wish you check their bag.
Regardless of the weight, your luggage's total length, height, and width must be no bigger than 158cm (wonder what’s ).
Vueling Checked Baggage Price
There will be four options: 15kg, 20kg, 25kg, and 30kg. Each passenger can only book one bag of each type.
All four checked bag options can be purchased online. Depending on the flight, the price:
- 15kg of luggage will be from €10 to €95
- 20kg of luggage will be from €14 to €96
- 25kg of luggage will be from €18 to €99
- 30kg of luggage will be from €25 to €120.
At the airport, you can only purchase the 25kg option. Buying online will only cost you €18 to €99, while at the airport, it will be from €50 or even €100 if you fly to/from Africa to the Middle East.
Any excess baggage over 25kg will incur an additional charge of €12 per kilogram, with a maximum weight limit of 32kg. To put it into perspective, exceeding the weight limit could cost you between €110 and €140 in extra fees.
And if your checked luggage exceeds 32kg, you may be forced to leave some items behind, so it’s crucial to pack carefully and avoid unnecessary expenses.
How To Book Tickets And Check In With Vueling

Booking tickets and checking in with Vueling is similar to how you do it with other carriers.
Where To Buy
To book tickets from Vueling Airlines, you can choose to book from their official website, download their app, or from third parties like Expedia, Traveloka, etc. We would recommend you get a ticket from Vueling directly, as they usually offer a more favourable price.
Booking tickets
The first step to booking a ticket from Vueling is to choose your departure, destination and desired month. When you insert that information, the website will provide a calendar with the expected price for each day of the month for easier comparison.
You can also see the lowest price for the same flight in the other month in this calendar, and change your schedule for a lower price if suitable.
Next, you can choose the outbound and return date. The predicted total price will be shown according to your choice. Then, when you click Show Flights, available flights with detailed information and prices will come up. Now, if you agree with the time and cost, continue to choose your bundle.
The Fly Light bundle will be the cheapest with no additional cost, as you will only get 1 under-seat bag for free. With the Fly bundle, you will get additional benefits like choosing between checked luggage or hand luggage and picking your own seat.
With the Fly Grande bundle, which usually triples the price, you will get the full service from Vueling like cabin luggage, checked luggage, seat picking, cancelling, etc.
Checking in
There are 03 ways to check in for Vueling flights. You can either do it online or at the airport.
Online Check-in
Click on CHECK-IN to get started. Photo capture from Vueling website.
- First, you will need your Vueling booking code, a six-character code sent from the confirmation email.
- Head to the carrier’s homepage and select the ‘Check-In’ tab at the top.
- Make your seat selection (if applicable) and apply any additional services like seat upgrades or additional baggage.
- Double-check and confirm your personal details.
- Receive the boarding passes via email or mobile phone.
CabinZero tips: It’s always a good idea to print additional copies of your boarding pass and store it, along with essentials like passport and visa, in a secured hip pack.
The online check-in is available right after you book your ticket, except for codeshare flights, which will be open 24 hours before departure. The check-in will be opened according to your destination:
- Schengen Area: up to 50 minutes before the scheduled departure time
- Outside Schengen Area: up to 70 - 85 minutes before the scheduled departure time
- Tel Aviv: up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure time
- Some other cities (Ex: Budapest, Corfu, Crete, etc.): up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure time
- Codeshare flights with Iberia and British Airways: from 24 hours before departure.
For detailed information on the check-in time for your flight, take notice when you purchase the ticket or visit their website.
Minors, unaccompanied or travelling with guardians, can check in online to get their boarding passes. Note that if you didn’t state that there are minors during the booking process, they will have to check in at the airport.
Check-in Desk
It is recommended that you check in online to save time queueing. But if you belong to one of the following cases, you will have to get a boarding pass from the counter:
- Travelling with pet
- Minors flying alone from an Italian airport
- Booked an extra seat
- Pending payment or price lock
- Resident status can’t be validated online
- Flying with sporting arm
- Un-checked additional documents
- Unallocated seat.
If you choose to check in at the airport, you must arrive early, as the check-in desk will be opened around 2 hours before the flight. Check-in desks for trips to/from Schengen Area will be closed 40 minutes before departure. While with other destinations, the time will be 60 minutes.
Self-Service Check-In Kiosks
This is a more convenient and quick way to handle your check-in process at the airport. However, Vueling automatic check-in machines are only available at certain airports in Barcelona, London (Gatwick) and Paris (Orly).
Fun fact: CabinZero did a giveaway with Vueling back in Oct 2023. Our 28L backpacks are guaranteed to fit under Vueling seats.
Conclusion
The bright side of travelling with Vueling Airlines is the cheap ticket. This is actually also the downside of this airline, as this will limit your benefits and cost you extra for everything, especially for luggage. However, your travel experience can still be wonderful if you plan in detail and pack efficiently.
